What is roadside assistance?
Roadside assistance is the help you call for your vehicle to break down on the road. Progressive insurance offers 24/7 roadside assistance with great rates.
It doesn’t matter if you are in your own driveway or on the road; you can call for help if your vehicle has stopped running due to non-accident-related events like a mechanical or electrical breakdown.
What does progressive’s roadside assistance include?
-
Flat tire change:
Progressive’s professional roadside assistance can put the spare tire on your vehicle at the scene for free as long as you can have a spare.
-
Fuel delivery:
Ran out of gas or fuel in the middle of the road? No problem. Progressive will deliver fuel directly to your vehicle. You just have to pay for the cost of the fuel, but the delivery and service are free.
-
Battery charge for electric cars:
Progressive even thought of the policyholders who own electric cars and offered to tow their electric vehicle anywhere within a 15-mile radius or to the nearest qualified charging facility if there isn’t one within 15 miles. You only have to pay for the cost of the charge.
-
Towing:
You can ask Progressive to tow your vehicle anywhere within a 15-mile radius. If there aren’t any repair shops within 15 miles, your vehicle will be towed to the nearest qualified repair shop.
You can choose to have your vehicle towed to a shop that isn’t the closest one, but then you have to pay for the extra mileage. Roadside assistance does not cover any repairs or parts.
-
Winching service:
If your car is trapped in mud, snow, water, or sand (within 100 feet of a road or highway), Progressive will come to you and pull your car out with a motor-powered cable or chain.
-
Battery jump-start:
If you need a battery jump-start at the scene, Progressive will help get you to get on your way.
-
Locksmith service:
If you lost your keys, or they got stolen, or you accidentally locked them inside your vehicle, Progressive can dispatch a qualified service provider, and the only thing you have to pay for is the cost of key replacement.
Progressive’s roadside assistance limitation
You can’t just call up Progressive for anything; there is a limit to the number of roadside events your policy covers in a year. Because the limitations vary by state, you should check your policy limits.
Roadside assistance costs around $16 a year on top of your existing insurance premium, a fair price.
Also, you cannot just buy roadside assistance from Progressive. You have to have an auto insurance policy with them in order to add roadside assistance.
How can you call for Progressive’s roadside assistance?
You have two options if you bought Progressive’s roadside assistance coverage:
- You can reach out to Progressive, and they will dispatch a local towing company on your behalf.
- You can call the towing service directly, and Progressive will reimburse the cost.
Notice: You can request reimbursement online or by mailing your receipt to Progressive’s roadside assistance office.
